East Gippsland Shire Council advises that roofing works at the main entrance and eating area of the Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre will commence on Monday 21st September 2026.
The works are required to address issues with the existing roof structure and ensure these areas remain safe, functional, and accessible for patrons and visitors.
To facilitate the works, temporary changes to access arrangements will be in place throughout the construction period. A clearly signed diversion will guide patrons safely to the facility entrance while construction is underway. BARC will remain open and operational throughout the project, with all regular services and programs continuing as scheduled.
At various stages of the works, sections of the foyer, cafe and eating area may be temporarily closed to accommodate construction activities. These closures will be carefully managed and kept to a minimum to reduce impacts on patrons, user groups, and visitors.
The works are expected to take approximately four weeks to complete and will be undertaken in stages to minimise disruption to facility users and daily operations.
These works form part of Council's ongoing commitment to maintaining safe, functional, and welcoming community facilities for residents and visitors.
Council thanks patrons, user groups, and the wider community for their patience, understanding and cooperation while these important works are completed.
For your safety, please follow all onsite signage and directions and always remain outside designated construction areas.
